Our contract was to cut, number and package the voussoir segments used to form the flat gauged arches. These arches were laid traditionally on arch formers and spanned the entire 440mm thickness. This meant that some arches contained over 1,000 uniquely shaped voussoir pieces.

Computer cut templates were used to guarantee accuracy in order to take into account each arch being radiused on plan. Everyone involved in the manufacture of these arches had to understand the numbering and packaging procedures.

Each brick was hand cut by skilled diamond saw operators with 15years experience of cutting arches. Accuracy and tolerance was essential to ensure the arches could be laid correctly on site.
