Two large two centred arches were supplied to this project. Each had a span of 5600mm The biggest problems facing us on this site, were the fact that access was very restricted and the tower crane on site had a weight limit of 1200Kg. Therefore the precast units had to be designed to come within this weight restriction. To this end each arch was supplied as two cladding panels rather than one structural arch. The panels were designed to hang from the buildings' steel frame. The rear of the panel was detailed to co-ordinate with standard internal brickwork, with cast in channels and fixings to make the connection to the buildings' steel frame. Once manufactured the arches were laid out in our works for the architect and client to inspect, prior to delivery. Links to other pages |
